Noctis Lucis Caelum has lived a prosperous and happy life. As the prince of Lucis, the most technologically-advanced nation in the world, he enjoys a certain amount of prestige and power. Surrounded by friends and advisers who have, in part, been brought up to support him, Noctis, the heir apparent, is all set to become the next king of Lucis who shall bring it even higher in the world. A childhood incident has even given Noctis the power to sense other people’s deaths, a power he will doubtless use to improve the fate of Lucis as a whole.

As Lucis falls to pieces behind them, they now embark on a journey that spans the world in an effort to regain Lucis’ lost power, defeat Niflheim, and put Noctis back in the place he once took for granted.
